Ukes of Hazard

This episode features the Whitehorse band “Ukes of Hazard” fronted by singer and ukulele player Paris Pick a.k.a “Paris Vagabond Gypsy“.

It all began in 2013 when Paris, then only 18 years old, hitchhiked to the Yukon wanting to create her own band. She was soon joined by four very talented young musicians and the “Ukes Of Hazard” were born.

Thanks to the witty, super honest, in your face songs, the quality sounds the soloists knock out and Paris’s flamboyant stage presents, the band quickly became high demand across Whitehorse’s music scene, playing at every venue possible.

The band’s popularity continues to grow beyond the Yukon. This summer the “Ukes” are going a one month tour across Western British Columbia and performing at festivals outside the territory.

They released their first LP, “Mine to Creep” in 2015.

It’s hard to describe the “Ukes of Hazard” sound. It certainly isn’t any one specific genre. Although typically Paris’ originals are pop-rock, they do a variety of covers and her fantastic band keeps the groove upbeat with lots of Jazz & Swing feels throughout the rhythm section.

Paris’ band members are Zacharie Pelland on electric guitar, Patrick Docherty on drums, Aiden Tentrees on bass and Cain Rogan on saxophone.

The “Ukes” performed in Haines Junction on May 31st, 2017.
