Gordie Tentrees
This episode of JAM Live! features Whitehorse folk musician Gordie Tentrees. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Gordie spent the past 15 years in the Yukon entertaining his audience with his own blend of folk, roots and blues sounds.
After spending most of his young adult years dealing with the effects of being reared in a violent home, Gordie put most of his energy into sport, theatre, and dance, channelling every negative into a positive.
His first three albums were story narratives chronicling his difficult past – the gritty characters of his life, relationships with the dark.
Gordie’s music is well known beyond Yukon’s border. He frequently tours in Europe and North America, averaging 200 concerts a year.
His accomplishments include, nomination for Western Canadian Music Award Album of the Year, performed at the Best of Canada Vancouver Olympics concert, as had songs featured in the CBC Series “Arctic Air” and Space Channel’s “Ring of Fire” and released five albums.
We recorded this performance in August 2013 at the Village Bakery’s open air stage in Haines Junction.
