Interview with Breaking Grass
The Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival, going strong since 2003, has brought some of the finest artists of Bluegrass music to the Yukon – Names like The Abrams Brothers, John Reischman and the Jaybirds and The Gibson Brothers. JAM Live! was there again in 2016 to record more outstanding performances. “But wait, there’s more!” JAM Live! also gets backstage, for rewarding interviews with the artists.
As in most musical genres, Bluegrass is coloured by the musicians’ personal and professional lives, so we invite you to come along with us as we explore some of this behind-the-scenes background.
And who better than Steve Gedrose, past producer of the bluegrass festival, to chat to the five members of “Breaking Grass” from Mississippi. They are Cody Farrar on guitar, Tyler White on fiddle, Jody Elmore on banjo, Zach Wooten on mandolin and Britt Sheffield on bass.
We caught up with the band during the festival on June 11th, 2016 at library of the St. Elias Community School in Haines Junction.
We would like to thank the Yukon Bluegrass Music Society for all their support.
Also a big thank you to Steve Gedrose who prepared and conducted the interview.
