Kelly Zimba, Flute
Flutist Kelly Zimba is the featured artist of this episode. Kelly is the Principal Flute of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra though she still finds time to perform all over the world as a soloist and chamber musician. Originally from Pittsburgh, Kelly studied in Texas and Michigan and received bachelor’s degrees in flute performance and music education.
Kelly is very passionate about music education. Among other positions, she is on faculty at The National Youth Orchestra Canada and recently served for three years on the faculty of the Sitka Fine Arts Camp in Alaska, where she was an artist-in-residence.
In January 2018 Kelly performed at the Sitka Performing Arts Centre. She is joined on stage by Rhiannon Guevin (Soprano) from Sitka and Robert Fleitz (Piano) from New York for a concert that includes works by Saint Saens, Prokofiev and Corigliano.
