Interview with Front Country
Since 2003, the Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival has presented amazing music from the finest artists in bluegrass such as James King, Michael Cleveland and Claire Lynch – and this year, for the first time, JAM Live! recorded some of the rousing performances for this radio show
As in most musical genres, the bluegrass sound is coloured by the musicians’ personal and professional lives, and we invite you to come along with us as we explore some of their behind the scenes background.
Steve Gedrose, past producer of the bluegrass festival, was the apt choice to chat with members from each of the five bands that JAM Live! is featuring from this year’s festival. In this episode Steve is speaking with Front Country, a six-member band from California.
In 2011, these six talented and accomplished young musicians from the Bay Area formed Front Country and went on to play, what they call, Progressive Bluegrass!
The band is fronted by singer Melody Walker with her relentless soulful voice.
During the festival on June 13th, 2015, at the crowded St. Elias Convention Centre in Haines Junction, we enjoyed conversations with Melody, Adam Roszkiewicz, and Jacob Groopman.

We would like to thank the Yukon Bluegrass Music Society for all their support.
Also a big thank you to Steve Gedrose who prepared and conducted the interview.
